Detailed Schedule To Be Updated Shortly

In response to the Defenders of the Land Call for a week of speaking events, cultural or arts events, and ceremony, the Indigenous Sovereignty and Solidarity Network is organizing the second annual Indigenous Sovereignty Week in Toronto.

ISW 2010 will focus on understanding and exposing the Canadian government's fundamental strategy of assimilation and extinguishment; exploring alternatives to the present colonial infrastructure; exposing the Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement signed this past year, examining relations between environmentalists and Indigenous communities, and understanding the importance of language, cultural renewal, and traditional governance to Indigenous resistance and self-determination. Issues of solidarity organizing will also be discussed.

Toronto Indigenous Sovereignty Week is organized by a committee of Native and non-Native activists, youth and culture producers.
